The Finishing Touch

Bridal boutiques give tips for the perfect accessories.

You found the dress. You’ve got the shoes. Now it’s time to put the finishing touches on your wedding day attire. It’s easy to find earrings, a necklace, and other bling that you like, but will they accentuate the dress? Here are some tips from the pros at Walnut Creek’s Kinsley James Couture Bridal and Lafayette’s Lace and Bustle Bridal.,

Neckline: Illusion

To enhance the beauty of the delicate and often–embellished neckline, forgo the necklace. Instead, pair earrings, such as a cluster of crystals, with an elegant, single–strand bracelet.

Neckline: Plunging

A simple drop necklace accentuates this ever–popular style. Or skip the necklace and choose a chunky earring, such as a large pearl. If the back plunges too, consider a choker piece with a drop down the back.

Neckline: Strapless Sweetheart

There are many options for this versatile dress style. Make sure that you are the focal point (instead of your jewelry) by pairing a dramatic earring—a chandelier or drop style—with a delicate necklace, such as a single pearl. Or, lose the necklace and add a halo–style headpiece to match your earrings.

Neckline: High Neck

Don’t overembellish an already detailed high neck or shoulder–strapped dress with too many accessories. Instead, choose a substantial earring (a cluster or small drop) and a simple headpiece. Pair these accessories with a plain cathedral veil to up the drama.
